Sashikanta Nayak - Odissi Dancer

Sashikanta Nayak
is an odissi indian classical dancer, teacher and choreographer.

He has earned his name in this field of Odissi dance at the age of ten.

At first he started learning dance under the guidence of Guru Purnima Barik and Guru Urmila Sahoo (same style of guru Kelucharan Mohapatra) ,Facial expression classes under Guru Sudhakara Sahu (Guru Deva Prasad Das style), and he has taken regorous training from guru Harekrishna Behera of Balasore in Nrutya Sangeet Kala Mandir.
During his ten years of training in Balasore (native place) he got Nrutya Visharad from AVGM mandal,miraj,mumbai.

Later on 1999 he was selected to take admission in three years advanced intensive house course in Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswer (govt.of.orissa) as a stipandiary student under the guidence of famous odissi dancer Padmashree Guru Kumkum Mohanty and he successfully completed.Thereafter he was selected 2 years more in performing group in Odissi Research Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Now he lives in Delhi with his wife, teaching and performing Odissi dance and jugalbandi.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION
She learnt bharatanatyam from her childhood in Prachin Kalakendra, Chandigarh
Kalakshetra Foundation,Chennai and from Bhaskara College of Fine Arts Kerala, under the guidence of guru V.P. Dhanjayan and Santa Dhanjayan.

1990 First prize for creative dance (Jhankar Music Circle, Kolkata)
1996 First prize for bharat natyam dance (Probhati College of Music, Kolkata)
1999 Best performer award (Bani Chakra Music Circle, Kolkata)
2003 She was honoured for her brilliant performance by Jharkhand chief minister.
She is a penalized artist of EZCC and some TV channel of Kolkata

HER PERFORMANCES
She had a lot of performances in Festivals,TV programmes widely in India. She had reviews in Hindustan times,Times of India, Pratidwani, Navbharat, Dainikjagaran and danced ont he TV in Doordarsan Kolkata, Orissa, Khaskhabar, N.d.t.v., etc.
